Panthers Sweep BCL And MIAA A Titles

St. Frances enjoyed a successful 37-7 campaign that included several new additions to its trophy case.

“It’s been a great season," SFA coach Nick Myles said. "I really thank the kids and the seniors for just taking me along for the ride. Back-to- back championships, to win the Gonzaga Invitational, be in the championship game at Chik-Fil-A - it’s been a great ride, man. The kids really came together and I’m really proud of them and I’m excited about the future of St. Frances basketball.”

That's because in spite of some big graduation losses - Chicago State-bound guard Rajier Jones, forward Jason Murphy and guard Chad Brown - the Panthers are primed for another run next year with the bulk of their talent returning.

2020 guards Ace Baldwin, Jordan Toles and forward Jamal West are among the top players in their class, and 2021 forwards Detwan Montague and Adam Walden earned some valuable experience in the front court.  Talented 2020 forward Isaac James will be fully in the fold after an in-season transfer.

“Great core of guys coming back, but we’ve got to get better, and the guys know that," Myles said. "We’ll give them a couple of weeks to do AAU things, and then we’ll get back to the plan. But just the talent we’ve got and how the kids love each other and how they cheer for each other, we’re just definitely going in the right direction.”
