A look at standouts from the 2019 Assist DMV Top 100 at Hayfield Secondary on August 18, 2019:
MVP: Landon Hawes, Potomac Falls 6’4 2020 Guard
Hawes showed and stood out during the event with his size and making plays for others, including constant scoring, rebounding and defense throughout the event. Also created mismatch problems with players during the event. Hawes recently received an offer from Frostburg State University (MD), which recently moved up to D-II from D-III.
Kevin Siakam, Veritas Christian Academy 6’9 2020 Forward
The power forward and cousin of NBA Champion Pascal Sikam showed his athleticism while finishing around the basket and being a big inside presence during the event. Siakiam is somewhat raw overall, but shows promise to being a sought out recruit in the area.
Corde Jenkins, Virginia Academy 2020 6’3 Guard
A transfer from Virginia 5A State Champion Maury High School in Norfolk, Jenkins displayed his ability to attack the rim and change of speed during the event and showed his competitiveness and 3-point shot as well.
DJ Slaughter, St. John Paul The Great 6’3 2020 Guard
The Combo guard showed during the event making the right reads and and consistent shooting touch during the course of the event.
Ethan Wilson, Osbourn Park 6’0 2020 Guard
The floor general from Osbourn Park played hard on both ends on the floor and displayed a constant mid range and 3-point jumpers throughout the event. Holds D2 offers from Georgian Court (NJ) and Wilmington.
Jordan Radford Battlefield 2020 Guard
The combo guard displayed his slashing to the basket ability and also his athleticism during the stations and five on five game play one of the best athletes on the floor overall
Cortez Lewis 6’2 SG St. John Paul The Great 2020 Guard
Lewis displayed being a two way guard by playing both ends on the floor and also showcased his athleticism on defense.
Mike Thomonson, Carver 5’7 2020 Guard
The point guard from Baltimore show great quickness and speed and competed both ends on the floor by getting easy in transition points in the five on five section of the event.
Micah Lee 6’3 Hayfield 2020 Guard
Lee showed his shooting stroke was able to stretch the floor out during the five-on-five events. Also won the “King of the Court Challenge by displaying quick combo moves creating his own shot.
