The 2019 DMVelite Fall League kicked off earlier this month with a mix of varsity and junior varsity programs in action at Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School.

Throughout the league regular season and playoffs, DMVelite staff will spotlight standout players and storylines.

Osbourn Park (Va.) 2020 guard Ethan Wilson broke out as a junior and carried that momentum into a good travel campaign with Higher Level.

“My summer went pretty good,” Wilson said following a game at the DMVelite Fall League. “I’ve just been working every day in the gym; just making sure I’m working on my game and helping my teammates out. I’ve been trying to go to as many camps and stuff as possible to get my college looks, so it’s been going pretty good for me.”

Wilson currently holds Division II scholarship offers from Georgian Court (NJ) and Wilmington University (DE), but feels his recruitment may be trending upward.

“I feel like over the next couple of weeks I should be able to get some more [looks] from maybe some low Division I’s depending on how I play,” he said. “So I feel like my recruitment’s going pretty good; I’m just trusting the process and making sure I’m playing to the best of my ability every game, so I’m not really too worried about it right now.”

A two-time DMVelite 80 participant, the 6-foot Wilson displayed his skillset in early Fall League action, as he showed the ability to keep defenses off balance by knocking down perimeter shots or driving and dishing.

“I feel like the strength of my game is just being able to make whatever play I want to make,” he said. “So if I want to score the ball I know I can score it; if I want to get an assist I know I can get an assist. So I feel like that’s really my strong suit right now -  just becoming more of an all-around player and playing defense and being more vocal this year.”

Wilson said he has a good feeling about this year’s teams after the Yellow Jackets made marked strides under coach Jeremy Coleman.

“I feel like we’re really good,” he said. “I feel like we’ve got a lot of people and we’ve got a lot of sophomore guards and two junior bigs that we just acquired, so I feel like they’re going to be pretty good, so I feel like as a team we should make a deep run.”
