WICOMICO YOUTH & CIVIC CENTER

EDISON (VA) 66, WINSTON CHURCHILL (MD) 62
2020 guard Jared Clawson led three Eagles in double-figures as they held off the Bulldogs.

2020 forward Donovan Staples had 18 points for Edison, while 2020 forward Gabriel Casillas added 16 and nine rebounds.

Churchill was led by 2020 guard Jomo Goings, who finished with a game-high 25 points and 11 boards. 2022 guard Kaden Richardson finished with 12 points.

WAGNER (NY) 63, EASTON (MD) 58
Justin Mason poured in a game-high 26 points to lead the Falcons, who put together a strong fourth quarter to earn the win.

Wagner trailed 42-37 after three quarters, but outscored Easton 26-16 in the final frame. 2020 forward Saadiq Alexander added 13 points and 10 rebounds and 2020 guard Bleron Lata 10 points.

2021 guard Dionte Hynson II had 16 points to lead the Warriors, who got 11 from 2020 forward Shawn Warner. 2020 forward DaQwan Johnson tallied 10 points and 12 rebounds.

LAKE NONA (FL) 62, NEW HOPE (MD) 57
2020 guard Austin Allison and 2021 guard Bryce Johnson had 15 points apiece and 202 guard Demir Conliffe 11 as the Lions held off a late Tigers rally.

2020 wing Issac James had 16 points and 10 rebounds for New Hope, which aso got 16 from 2022 guard Jaylen Hall and 11 from 2023 guard Ralph Martino.

EDMONDSON-WESTSIDE (MD), NEW DORP (NY)
2020 wing TraShawn Lewis had 11 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Red Storm, which closed both halves strong to pick up an opening win.

Edmondson outscored New Dorp 12-2 in the second quarter and 18-6 in the fourth to create separation.

2020 guard Jah Ki Tull had 9 rebounds and 7 rebounds for the Cougars.

ELIZABETH (NJ) 65, OLYMPIC (NC) 62
2022 guard Jayden Pierre had 18 points to lead the Minutemen to victory in their return appearance.

2020 forward Jordan Price had 15 points and 7 rebounds for Elizabeth, while 2020 guard DeWarren Watkins had 12 points.

2020 guard Josh Banks led the Trojans with 19 points, while 2021 guard Trevon Williams added 16 and 2021 guard Isaiah Golden finished with 11.

COLEGIO SAN FELIPE DE ARECEIBO (PR) 73, VERITAS COLLEGIATE (VA) 71 [OT]
2021 center Sebastian Rosado scored 18 points to lead the Eagles to victory in an overtime thriller.

2020 guard Derek Sepulveda added 16 points, 2021 forward Keniel Viruet 13 and 2020 forward Adrian Medina 12 for San Felipe, which is making its inaugural Governor’s Challenge appearance.

2022 guard Bryce Hawkins had a game-high 22 points to the Spartans, who also got 11 apiece from 2020 guard Tay Sallywhite and 2020 guard Lavi Morales.

MONSIGNOR BONNER-PRENDIE (PA) 82, DULANEY (MD) 75
2020 guard Tyreese Watson had 22 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds as the Friars withstood a Dulaney rally and held on for the victory.

2021 Malik Edwards added 20 points for the Friars, while 2022 Mandon Seapoe added 16.

2021 guard Ryan Conway had 20 for the Lions, who trailed by 18 points after the first quarter but came back to tie the game in the fourth before falling short. 2020 forward Cameron Byers and 2021 guard Latrell Harper added 16 each for Dulaney.

2020 guard Caleb Johnson had 19 points to lead four players in double figures as the Crusaders picked up their first-ever Governor’s Challenge victory.

Joining Johnson were 2022 forward Noah Ngamba (18 points and 11 rebounds), 2021 guard Brendan Ocampo (13 points), 2021 guard Jaymyah Brown Jeffers (13) and 2021 guard Jayden Dorsett (10).

2020 guard Briggs McLain scored 21 points to lead the Gaels, who got 14 from 2020 forward Matt Rogers and 10 from 2021 guard Vincent Payne.

LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE (SC) 66, NEUMANN-GORETTI (PA) 62
2021 guard Jacobi Wright scored 22 points to lead the Lions in one of the most anticipated games of the event - a matchup of two nationally-ranked teams.

2021 wing Ike Cornish added 15 points and 8 rebounds for Legacy, while 2020 forward Braylan McIntyre finished with 13 points.

2021 guard Chris Evans had 20 points for the Saints, and 2020 guard Hakim Byrd and 2020 forward Cameron Young had 12 points apiece.

BISHOP MCNAMARA (MD), PIEDMONT CLASSICAL (NC)
2020 guard Aaron Russell had 16 points to lead the Mustangs, who outscored the Bobcats 18-10 in the fourth quarter to pull away and get the win.

2021 forward Terrence Butler and 2021 guard David Brown each had 10 points for McNamara.

2021 guard Jamarri Thomas had 17 points to lead Piedmont Classical, while 2020 forward Evan Joyner had 8 points and 10 rebounds.

CRISFIELD (MD) 73, SUSSEX TECH (DE) 59
2020 forward CorTrey Fontaine and 2020 guard Rykell Waters had 16 points each to lead the Crabbers to victory.

2022 guard Jaron Smith had 12 points and 2020 forward Christian Waters added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

2020 guard Skylar Johnson had 23 points to lead the Ravens, who also got 15 from 2020 guard Devon Reynolds and 10 from 2020 forward Ja’Shaun Johnson.

LIBERTY HEIGHTS (NC) 62, BALBOA (CA) 55
2020 forward Kahari Rogers had 16 points and 2020 Kamryn Edwards 13 and Dominique Davidson 11 to lead the Cardinals to victory in the nightcap.

2020 guard EJ Neal had 18 to lead the Bengals in their inaugural Governor’s Challenge game, while 2021 guard Lenz Dupont finished with 14.

UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND-EASTERN SHORE

DELMAR (DE) 64, CONRAD (DE) 35
2020 guard Velshawn Spence scored 14 points to lead four Wildcats in double figures as they ran away with the Bracket 6 Championship.

2021 guard Jermiah Lumpkin Beale had 12 points for Delmar, which got 11 from 2021 guard Cameron Bozman and 10 from 2020 guard TJ Gibson.

2020 forward Jamar Wright had 12 points to lead the Redwolves.

ST. JOHN'S CATHOLIC PREP (MD) 79, GEORGETOWN DAY(MD) 39
2020 guard Tyriel Collins had a game-high 21 points as the Vikings claimed the Bracket 3 Championship.

2022 guard Masai Troutman added 18 points for St. John’s Catholic Prep, which got 17 from 2020 forward Winston Moore and 10 from 2020 guard Matt Contreras.

2020 forward Montez McNeil had 17 points for the Hoppers, while 2022 forward Brock Davis had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

JM BENNETT (MD) 63, CALVERT (MD) 59
2020 guard DJ Berlin knocked down four of his nine 3-pointers en route to a 16-point, seven-rebound performance to lead the Clippers.

2021 guard Mark Rachic and 2020 center Jonathan Rawlings each had 13 points for Calvert.

POTOMAC (VA) 56, LINDEN (NJ) 41
Manny White had 15 points as the Panthers used a balanced effort to claim a Bracket Championship.

Nigel Merville had 10 points to lead Linden.

LINGANORE (MD) 53, CARAVEL (DE) 48
2020 forward Kendall Johnson scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds, and hit four key free throws late in the contest to power the Lancers to the Bracket 2 Championship.

2020 guard Sean Lang added 10 points and three assists for Linganore.

2021 guard DeAndre Gourdine had 19 points and eight rebounds for Caravel.

LAUREL (DE) 65, QUEEN ANNE'S (MD) 56
Javier White had 29 points on 12-of-14 shooting and made four 4-pointers to carry Laurel over Queen Anne's.

Kylse Wilson had 15 for Laurel while Robert Malone added 11.

Devrin Turner had 16 for Queen Anne's, which got 14 from Hugh Meehan and 13 from Xavior Jones.

FRIENDS SCHOOL OF BALTIMORE (MD) 66, LANDON (MD) 60
Kendrick Curtis (16 points), Jean Pierre Vassor (14) and Jaden Derry (10) led the Quakers to victory.

Mike Gray had 18 to lead the Quakers, who got 14 from Kino Lilly and 10 from Canin Reynolds.

WICOMICO HIGH SCHOOL

SALISBURY SCHOOL (MD) 57, FREDERICK FORCE (MD) 49
2020 forward Jozsef Baranz had 26 points and 11 rebounds and 2020 forward Jared Vazquez had 17 points and 25 rebounds as the Dragons claimed the Bracket 7 Championship.

2021 guard AJ Switzer had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the Force, while 2020 guard Sammy Bowes had 13 and 2020 guard Berghen Sigulinsky added 11.

POLYTECH (DE) 56, WALKERSVILLE (MD) 48
2023 guard Xavier Brewington tallied 25 points and nine rebounds to propel the Panthers to a consolation victory.

2021 guard Jacob Montgomery paced the Lions with 12 points and five rebounds.

BOWIE (MD) 60, OAKDALE (MD) 41
2020 guard Muhammad Abdulmateen scored 16 points on 5-8 shooting from 3-point land and grabbed nine rebounds to power the Bulldogs to the consolation victory.

2022 guard Jacob Morgan and 2020 guard Justin Zavala each added 11 for Bowie, which jumped out to an 11-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

2020 guard Tommy Kelly paced the Bears with 14 points, four rebounds, and four steals.

SMYRNA (DE) 56, WALT WHITMAN (MD) 40
2020 guard Nahston Sylvester had 14 points and eight rebounds to catapult the Eagles to the Bracket 10 championship.

2020 guard Brandon Smith tallied 12 points and seven rebounds, while 2020 guard Izaiah Credle notched 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists for Smyrna.

2020 forward Michael Bass paced Whitman with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

MIDDLEBURG ACADEMY (VA) 72, ST. CHARLES (MD) 71
2021 guard Jaden House had 24 points and 2021 guard Isaiah Folkes added 19 as the Dragons held on for a thrilling victory.

2020 guard Tremaine Chelsey had 25 points to lead the Spartans, who got 21 points from 2020 guard Omar McGann and 14 from 2020 wing Max Brooks.

WESTERN BRANCH (VA) 57, GAITHERSBURG (MD) 53
2022 guard Efrem Johnson scored 18 points on 9 of 15 shooting and added four assists to lead the Bruins to the Bracket 8 title game against Middleburg Academy.

2021 Cameron Edmonds added 15 points (6 of 13 shooting) and seven rebounds for Western Branch, which out-shot Gaithersburg 52 percent (27 of 52) to 34 percent (20 of 58).

2021 guard Jao Ituka paced Gaithersburg with 20 points (8 of 24 shooting), eight rebounds and four assists. 

WORCESTER PREPARATORY (MD) 59, KING'S CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (MD) 49
Ryan Cronin and Michael Wehberg had 17 points apiece to lead the Mallards to victory. 

Brice Richins had 13 points and 14 rebounds for Worcester Prep.

Xavian McDougland had 19 points to lead King's Christian.
 

JM BENNETT HIGH SCHOOL

WASHINGTON (MD) 61, RON BROWN COLLEGE PREP (DC) 59
Charles Smith (18 points), Alden Horsey (12) and Davin Phillips (11) led the Jaguars to a consolation win.

Dajuan Miller had 23, Rashawn Harrington 12 and Christian Johnson 10 for the Monarchs.

HUNTINGTOWN (MD) 62, STEPHEN DECATUR (MD) 50
2020 guard Kedrick Frink had 20 points to lead the Hurricanes to a consolation win. Jayden Holland added 12 and Garrett Contee finished with 10.

The Seahawks were led by 2020 forward Drew Hauiesen (17 points) and DaCameron McAfee (11).

OSBOURN PARK (VA) 55, ST. PAULS (MD) 41
2020 guard Ethan Wilson had 24 points to lead the Yellow Jackets to a consolation victory.

Luke Trotta had 12 points to lead St. Paul’s.

HAVRE DE GRACE (MD) 72, GLASGOW (DE) 52
Josiah Scott had 29 points on 10-of-13 shooting - including 5-of-6 from 3-point range - as Havre De Grace won its opener. TJ Turner added 10 points.

David Nichols had 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead Glasgow.

NEW ERA ACADEMY (MD) 65, SNOW HILL (MD) 41
Rico Lang had 20 points, Jamal Cannady 16 and Demetrius Howard 10 as the Jaguars used a balanced effort to counter a monster game by Snow Hill’s Shi’Quan Williams.

Williams had 32 of his team’s points on 14-of-15 shooting. 

GEORGE C. MARSHALL (VA) 79, CAMBRIDGE-SOUTH DORCHESTER (MD) 56
Jack Taylor scored 21 points and Gowtam Kommi had 10 as the Statesman won their opener.

Logan Middleton had 15 points to lead the Vikings, while Dajawan Jackson added 12.

MARDELA 63, GRACE BRETHREN (MD) 49
Patrick Louise Jacque had 21 points to lead four Mardela players in double figures in a consolation victory.

Louise-Jacque was joined by Josh Lewis (15),  Zach Mills (13) and Makhai Bratten (10).

Caleb Hill had 20 to lead Grace Brethren, which got 16 from Rayvon Wilkinson and 10 from Christian Hill.
