Recaps from the fourth day of action at the 2019 Governor’s Challenge:

WICOMICO YOUTH & CIVIC CENTER

SIDWELL FRIENDS (DC) 57, ST. VINCENT PALLOTTI (MD) 48
2021 guard Ryan Cornish had 13 points and six assists to lead the Quakers to the Bracket #13 Championship.

2022 forward George Perkins had 12 points on 6 of 9 shooting and six rebounds for Sidwell Friends, while 2023 guard Cameron Gillus and 2022 guard Chris Gamble each added 11 points and four rebounds.

2020 guard Anthony Blunt and 2020 guard Wade Jackson carried the scoring load for the Panthers with 17 points apiece.

HIGHLAND SCHOOL (VA) 58, ST. PETERS (NY) 50
2021 guard Yusef Salih scored 15 points and dished three assists to lead the Hawks to the consolation victory.

2021 guard Angelo Brizzi added 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists for Highland School, while 2020 guard Zion Hanberry (11 points) and 2022 forward Roman Barshow (10 points on 4-4 shooting) registered in double figures.

2020 forward Liam Murphy paced the Eagles with 15 points and eight rebounds.

ST. MARY’S RYKEN (MD) 69, VERITAS COLLEGIATE (VA) 50
2021 guard Kenny McKoy had 16 points on 7 of 8 shooting to lead the Knight to the Bracket #14 Championship.

2021 guard added 15 points on 5 of 7 shooting inside the arc and three assists for the Knights.

2020 guard Lavi Morales paced the Spartans with 12 points while 2020 guard Tay Sallywhite added 10 points on 5 of 9 shooting.

CATHOLIC (VA) 49, MEDGAR EVERS (NY) 29
2020 forward Misha Zurabashvii scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Crusaders to the consolation victory.

2021 guard Sterling White added 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting to go along with five rebounds for Catholic, which stifled Medgar Evers, holding them to just 27 percent from the floor and 0-for-14 from outside the arc.

2020 guard Kyle Rodney paced Medgar Evers with 11 points and six rebounds.

ROCK CREEK (MD) 71, BECKLEY PREP IJN (WV) 59
2021 guard Delonnie Hunt filled the stat sheet with 15 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and two steals to guide Rock Creek past Beckley Prep.

2020 guard Milton Matthews added 14 points on 4 of 7 shooting from deep for RCCA, while 2021 Zaakir Williamson and 2020 Masio Carson each had 12.

2020 guard Curtis Houston paced Beckley Prep with 15 points and three assists.

GILMAN (MD) 58, LINDEN (NJ) 54 
2022 guard Christian Winborne scored 18 of his team-high 19 points in the second half as the Greyhounds rallied back from a 14-point deficit to win.

2020 guard Jordan Foster had 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Gilman.

Amir Williams had 21 points and 10 rebounds for Linden, while Isaac Thompkins had 13.

ELIZABETH (NJ) 63, ST. MARIA GORETTI (MD) 51
2020 forward Jordan Price had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead a second-half surge for the Minutemen, who out-scored Goretti 36-16 over the final two quarters.

2022 guard Jayden Pierre added 14 points for Elizabeth, while 2020 guard DJ Watkins had 13 points and five rebounds.

2020 guard and Hartford commit Briggs McClain paced the Gaels with 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

BISHOP MCNAMARA (MD) 46, SETON HALL PREP (NJ) 38
Ed Johnson Jr. had 11 points to lead a balanced effort for the Mustangs, who rebounded from a slow start to win.

McNamara scored just 14 points in the first half, but managed 13 in the third quarter (while holding Seton Hall Prep to only 5) to take the lead.

Gary Hinds had 11 points to lead the Pirates.

FATHER HENRY CARR (CAN) 78, COLEGIO SAN FELIPE (PR) 74
2022 forward Noah Ngamba scored 21 points and knocked down 15 of his 21 free throw attempts to lead the Crusaders past the Eagles in a fiery game that lasted two hours and amassed 70 total fouls.

2021 guard Jayden Dorsett added 14 points and eight rebounds for Father Henry Carr, which opened the second half on a 12-0 run after trailing 37-36 at the half.

2021 guard Melvin Vargas did a little bit of everything for San Felipe, totaling nine points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals, and taking five charges.

MONSIGNOR SCANLAN (NY) 63, GLENELG COUNTRY (MD) 50
Dayton-bound 2020 guard Koby Brea scored 28 points and 2020 guard Joe Munden had 22 as the Crusaders pulled away late to down the Dragons.

2020 wing Jordan Brathwaite had 22 points and 13 rebounds for Glenelg Country, while 2022 wing Noah Batchelor finished with 17 points.

BALBOA (CA) 60, ST. ANDREW’S (RI) 49
Joseh Ogbebor had 16 points to lead the Bengals to victory in Sunday’s finale.

Daniel Ameyaw had 11 points and Andrew Milot and Lenz Dupont 10 apiece for Balboa.

Sean James had 10 points to lead St. Andrew’s.

PIEDMONT CLASSICAL (NC) 74, VIRGINIA ACADEMY (VA) 57
2021 guard Jamarii Thomas and 2020 guard Jalen Joiner each had 15 points to lead the Bobcats.

The game was tied 31-31 at the half, but the Bobcats outscored the Patriots 25-10 in the third quarter to break it open.

2020 guard Christian McLeod had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Virginia Academy, while 2021 guard Jaden Haggler finished with 12 points.
