Recaps from the sixth and final day of action at the 2019 Governor’s Challenge:

WICOMICO YOUTH & CIVIC CENTER

WOODLAND HILLS (PA) 49, WALT WHITMAN (MD) 43
2022 guard Jazmyn Fisher had 12 points and 2021 forward Peyton Pinkney 11 to lead the Wolverines to a consolation victory.

2020 guard Anna Krush had 14 points for the Vikings.

BOONSBORO (MD) 58, WICOMICO (MD) 52
2023 guard Paige Smith had 14 points, 2020 guard Alli Leone 13 and 2020 guard Madison Griffin 12 as the Warriors stymied a Wicomico rally to take the Bracket 5 championship.

2020 guard Leyanna Pettit had a game-high 26 points for Wicomico.

SOUTH LAKES (VA) 68, MEDGAR EVERS (NY) 56
2021 forward Brianna Scott had 24 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the Seahawks to the Bracket #1 Championship.

Nina Boffman had 19 points and Leila Sopeland 10 for South Lakes, which was making its first Governor’s Challenge trip.

2020 guard Kaia Johnson had 22 points to lead Medgar Evers, while 2020 guard Kayla Williams had 11 and 2022 forward Jade Campbell finished with 10.

JM BENNETT (MD) 79, LARGO (MD) 55
2021 guard Mekara Hanson had 26 points and 2020 guard Zy’Aire Smullen 23 as the Clippers pulled away to take the Bracket #4 title.

2020 guard Ajah Kellam had 10 points for Bennett.

2021 guard Alexia Hackett had 19 points and 2020 guard Vanessa Schwarzmann 17 for the Lions.

ST. ANDREWS (RI) 56, WILSON (DC) 14
2023 guard Mia Fiore had 12 points and 2021 guard Ella Fiore 10 to lead St. Andrews, which opened up an early lead and never looked back.

2022 forward Deborah Okechekuwu led the Tigers with 8 points and 7 rebounds.

PARKSIDE (MD) 51, WT WOODSON (VA) 46
2022 guard Amanda Ballard had 23 points to lead the Rams as they held off a late Cavalier charge to claim the Bracket #3 championship.

2022 forward Jacqueline Wright had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Parkside.

2022 guard Eunice Yoon had 15 points for WT Woodson, which also got 11 points and 10 rebounds from 2020 forward Maggie McGuire.

WINSTON CHURCHILL (MD) 53, SANFORD (DE) 51 [OT]
2021 forward Parker Hill hit the game-winner in overtime as the Bulldogs finished their Eastern Shore trip in a thriller.

Hill finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds for Churchill, while 2020 guard Brittini Martin and 2020 forward Leah Rubino had 8 points apiece.

2020 forward Allorie Kubek had 19 points to lead the Warriors.

ST. MARIA GORETTI (MD) 51, WALKERSVILLE (MD) 27
2021 guard Peyton Kirchner had 14 points and 2020 guard Kyriah Stubbs 13 to lead the Gaels to the Bracket #2 Championship.

2021 forward Indatou Ali-Goukoye had 9 points to lead the Lions.

MCLEAN (VA) 64, SUSSEX TECH (DE) 24
2020 guard Eliabeth Dufrane had 17 points as the Highlanders cruised to a consolation victory.

2021 forward Sophie Smith added 12 points for McLean, and 2023 guard Kara Bremer finished with 12.

2021 forward Shaniya Godwin had 8 points and 9 rebounds for the Ravens.

RIVERDALE BAPTIST (MD) 60, FREDERICK (MD) 46
2020 guard Kaylah Ivey had 16 points, Elizabeth Martino 12 and 2021 center Kaylah Thomas 12 for the Crusaders to close out the day at the WY&CC.

2021 forward Rose Bubakar had 15 points for the Cadets, while 2020 guard Rhiana Hall had 10 points and 8 rebounds.
 

MARYLAND-EASTERN SHORE

GERSTELL ACADEMY (MD) 48, WORCESTER PREP (MD) 35
2023 guard Marley Saunders had 22 points and 2022 center Kylie Redman added 12 to help the Falcons to a consolation victory.


2021 forward CC Lizas had 11 points for the Mallards.

DAMASCUS (MD) 47, KIPP COLLEGE PREP (DC) 29
2020 forward Clare Bradshaw had 17 points and 7 rebounds for the Hornets as they picked up a consolation victory.

2020 Aniya Thorne led KIPP with 9 points.

LINGANORE (MD) 43, RICHARD MONTGOMERY (MD) 41
2021 guard Darbe Reesman scored 10 points - including the go-ahead free throws - to lead the Lancers as they held on for a tight consolation bracket victory.

2021 guard Calie Dun had 14 points and 2020 guard Anujin Dashdorj 10 for the Rockets, who had one final shot to tie but couldn’t convert.

MARDELA (MD) 41, SNOW HILL (MD) 35
2022 guard Mackenzie Mills had 17 points and 2021 forward Marisa Pittas 10 lead the Warriors.

2023 guard Mariah Murray had 15 points and 2023 guard Amiyah Brunson 10 for the Eagles.

SALISBURY CHRISTIAN (MD) 48, LAUREL (DE) 40
2021 guard Isabella Morrison had 15 points and 2022 guard Kaela Mitchell 13 for the Jaguars to win the final game of 2019.

2021 forward Nakayla Smith had 19 points and 2023 guard Carlie Venables had 10.
