With the 2019-20 high school basketball season now firmly in the rearview mirror, we are proud to announce our All-State selections for Maryland. This group is perennially the hardest to choose, as it represents our largest single area of coverage and encompasses a wide range of extremely talented players.

Our staff would like to thank the players, coaches and fans who made this past season – our tenth year of high school coverage – a success, and we look forward to many more. In addition to this All-MD team (which features only players from schools located in Maryland), we've rolled out All-DC and will be releasing an All-Northern Virginia team, culminating in our overall All-DMVelite squad.

And now, here’s our selection of the state’s best of the best – the 2020 DMVelite All-Maryland Team:

DMVELITE ALL-MARYLAND AWARDS

DMVelite Maryland Player of The Year: Hunter Dickinson, DeMatha 2020 Center
Coach of The Year: Butch Waller, Wicomico
Freshman of The Year: Kwame Evans, Poly Wing
Most Improved: Jason Edokpayi, Mount St. Joseph 2020 Forward
Under The Radar: Jack Doumbia, Lanham Christian 2020 Wing
Unsung Hero: Omar McGann, St. Charles 2020 Guard

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: HUNTER DICKINSON, DEMATHA 2020 CENTER
The Michigan-bound Dickinson put up 18.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.1 blocks per game while leading the Stags to a dominant run through the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. DeMatha finished 30-3 overall and lost just one WCAC game - the regular season finale - en route to their second conference championship in three seasons.

COACH OF THE YEAR: BUTCH WALLER, WICOMICO
In his 54th season at WiHi, Waller turned in another special campaign, guiding a Wicomico squad with just two seniors to its second undefeated league season in three years. In that period, Wicomico has gone 69-6 overall and 47-1 in the Bayside Conference, and had earned a berth in this year’s Class 2A semifinals before the season was interrupted.

FIRST TEAM

ADRIAN “ACE” BALDWIN, ST. FRANCES 2020 GUARD
The Virginia Commonwealth-bound Baldwin averaged 11 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals per game while running a Panthers squad that won its third straight Baltimore Catholic League championship.

MAX BROOKS, ST. CHARLES 2020 FORWARD
Brooks - a UMass-Lowell commit - made a huge impact in his lone season at St. Charles after transferring from Great Mills. He averaged 14.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game while helping to lead the Spartans to the most successful season in school history at 26-1.

COREY DYCHES, POTOMAC 2020 GUARD
Headed to the University of Maryland for football, Dyches made the most of his final season on the hardwood, putting up 24 points per game and earning Prince George’s County 1A/2A/3A Co-Player Of The Year honors.

JUSTIN LEWIS, POLY 2020 FORWARD
The Marquette-bound Lewis averaged 19.3 points, 13.4 rebounds, 4.4 blocked shots and four assists per game for the Engineers, who were aiming for their fourth consecutive 3A state title before the season was interrupted.

BRANDON MURRAY, POLY 2020 GUARD
Murray broke out in his final season, putting up a team-high 21.7 points per game to lead the Baltimore City Champions to a 24-2 record. He will do a prep year at IMG Academy (FL) next year.

RONALD POLITE, OXON HILL 2020 GUARD
The George Mason-bound Polite averaged 22.5 points and 5.5 assists per game while leading the Clippers to their first Prince George’s County championship since 2010. He was named Prince George’s County 1A/2A/3A Co-Player Of The Year.

EARL TIMBERLAKE, DEMATHA 2020 GUARD
The University of Miami commit displayed his versatility while averaging 16.5 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference champions.

CAMERON TWEEDY, WESTLAKE 2020 FORWARD
Few players in the area were more consistently productive than Tweedy, who finished averaging 19.4 points, 13.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

JAMAL WEST, ST. FRANCES 2020 FORWARD
The Baltimore Catholic League Player of the Year, West averaged 16 points and 9 rebounds per game to lead the Panthers to their third straight BCL title. He is committed to South Alabama.

BENNY WILLIAMS, ST. ANDREWS EPISCOPAL 2021 WING
One of the most highly-touted prospects in the area junior class, Williams broke out this year, averaging 16 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks per game to lead the Lions to their first Mid-Atlantic Conference title in five years.
