With the 2019-20 high school basketball season firmly in the rearview mirror, we are proud to announce our All-Area selections for Northern Virginia.

Our staff would like to thank the players, coaches and fans who made this past season – our tenth year of high school coverage – a success, and we look forward to many more. This team encompasses our Northern Virginia coverage area, which includes players at public and private high schools located in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties.

And now, here’s our selection of NoVa’s best of the best – the 2020 DMVelite All-Northern Virginia Team:

DMVELITE ALL-NOVA AWARDS

DMVelite NoVa Player of The Year: Jeremy Roach, Paul VI 2020 Guard
Co-Coaches of The Year: Kevin Harris, Centreville and Mike Robinson, South County
Freshman of The Year: Jamie Kaiser, Lake Braddock Guard
Most Improved: Paul Lewis, Bishop O’Connell 2021 Guard
Under The Radar: Nate Arrington, CD Hylton 2021 Forward
Unsung Hero: Jamal Barnes, St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes 2020 Guard

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: JEREMY ROACH, PAUL VI 2020 GUARD
Roach missed his entire junior year with a knee injury but rebounded to close his high school career strong, averaging 17.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.9 steals per game for the Panthers, who won the Virginia Independent Schools Division I championship and finished as Washington Catholic Athletic Conference runner-ups. A McDonald’s All-American, Roach is headed to Duke next year.

CO-COACHES OF THE YEAR: KEVIN HARRIS, CENTREVILLE & MIKE ROBINSON, SOUTH COUNTY
Harris and Robinson each finished the year as champions, but not in the manner that they expected. Centreville and South County were set to face off for the Class 6 title before the game was cancelled due to coronavirus concerns, and the Virginia High School League crowned them as co-champions. Harris guided the Wildcats to a 22-6 record, and the state title was the first in school history. Robinson’s Stallions finished 27-3, earning their second state championship in three years.

It was a breakout junior campaign for Johnson, who averaged 20.4 points, 6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game for the Maroon.
