Super Circuit Session I: 16U Notebook

The 16U Division featured plenty of intriguing talent.

RICHMOND, VA - The first stop on the 2021 DMVelite Super Circuit took place last weekend in Richmond.

Here’s a look at some of the notable performers in the 16U Division:


TREVOR SMITH, TEAM LOADED VA 3SSB

There was much said about the scoring ability of Trevor Smith and it was on full display this weekend. In 3 games, the Woodside (Va.) 2023 guard averaged 15 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent from 3. Team Loaded was undefeated on the weekend.

LUKE MCELDON TEAM LOADED VA 3SSB

The 6-foot-11 McEldon posted 11.3 points per game on 14-on-17 shooting. In a win over Team BBC 3SSB, he went for a game-high 17 points.

TY WILLIAMS, NEW WORLD 3SSB

Williams was the 16U Division’s leading scorer, averaging 18 points per game on 59 percent shooting. He scored it well from all 3 levels while leading New World to a 2-0 finish over the first weekend.

JUSTIN BOGGS, BOO WILLIAMS EYBL

Boggs showcased his athleticism and outside touch while averaging 16 points per game as Boo Williams rolled in two dominant wins over the District Basketball Club and Team BBC. He posted 18 against BBC, connecting on 4 of his 7 3-point attempts.


SAMUEL BRANNEN, BOO WILLIAMS EYBL

The 5-foot-11 Brannen tallied 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting (including 3-of-5 from 3-point range) in a runaway opening victory over District Basketball Club HGSL.

PATRICK O’BRIEN, DC PREMIER UAA

A 6-foot-8 2023 forward from Highland School (Va.), O’Brien led Premier to a 52-47 victory over The City by posting a team-high 15 rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting while grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.  

KJ GARDNER, DISTRICT BASKETBALL CLUB WHITE

The District finished Session I undefeated and Gardner was a major reason why, posting 11.7 points per game on 14-of-19 shooting - including 4-of-6 from deep - and adding 2.3 assists per game. He closed out Sunday’s action strong posting 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting in a 72-56 win over Trailblazers Elite..

CHASE LAWTON, DISTRICT BASKETBALL CLUB WHITE

Lawson led the 16U Division in assists, dishing out 14 - 4.6 per game - as The District White went undefeated in Session I.

JACK MURPHY, NOVA 94 FEET

Murphy was productive on both ends for NOVA 94 Feet, posting 8.7 points per game while also collecting 13 steals (4.3 per game), the most in the 16U Division.

AIDAN HARRIS, DMV STAGS

Harris (St. Mary’s Annapolis) continued to show his progression as a player, scoring a team-high 16 points and shooting 50% from the field against a very talented Team Loaded VA 3SSB team.

KRISTIAN TATE, THE CITY ELITE

The City was competitive in every game this weekend but was unable to secure its first win. This was despite a very strong effort from Tate (DeMatha 2023), who impressed while  averaging 13.7 points per game on 56 percent shooting from the field. He also tallied 3 steals per game.

DOYLE BROWN, DISTRICT BASKETBALL CLUB HGSL

The Centreville (Va.) guard was efficient from the field in a pair of contests, averaging a team-high 13.5 points per game while shooting 50 percent (7-of-14) from 3-point range.

CHALI TAYLOR, TRAILBLAZERS ELITE

Taylor was highly productive as Trailblazers Elite split an opening pair of games in Session I. He led the 15U Division in rebound at 8 per game while posting 15 points per game on nearly 60 percent shooting from the field.
