BISHOP WALSH 47, BISHOP MCNAMARA 46

2023 guard Mikey Allen hit a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Spartans a thrilling victory in the day's opener.

“I couldn’t hit a shot all day," Allen said, "but my teammates had confidence in me. My point guard, he always finds me and he found me for the last shot and I hit it.”

The two teams exchanged long scoring droughts. Bishop Walsh led 16-13 after one quarter, but managed just two points in the second as McNamara built a 26-18 lead. In the third quarter it was the Mustangs who went cold, getting outscored 16-4 as the Spartans took a 34-30 lead into the final frame.

McNamara led 46-42 with 51 seconds to play after a pair of Jaren Curtis free throws, but Bishop Walsh closed the gap to 46-44 on a pair of Mike Williams free throws with 39 seconds remaining. Allen handled the rest.

Williams had 17 points to lead Bishop Walsh, while 2022 guard Travis Roberts had 14.

Favour Aire finished with 17 points and Jeremiah Quigley 16 for McNamara.

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 89, GONZAGA 82 (2OT)

Mount St. Joseph 2024 guard Bryson Tucker had 34 points to lead the Gaels over the Purple Eagles in double overtime.

2023 forward Amani Hansberry had another strong outing, posting 26 points - including the 3-pointer at the end of regulation to force OT - and 12 rebounds.

“Everybody believed in me.," Hansberry said of his big shot. "Ace Valentine, he passed me the ball and he made the right read - two came to him and I was wide open, so I just had to knock it down.”

Gonzaga took the lead in the first overtime before MSJ rallied to force a second. The Gaels struck first in that frame and held the Eagles at bay.

“We came up a little bit short [Thursday] night, " MSJ coach Pat Clatchey said, "but the one thing I reminded our team of was we have some championship DNA. We’ve won two championships, and if you lose in the first round there you cant win the tournament, but you can come out here and play well against a good team, and you get better and get the experience toward next year. I was really proud of our guys. It was a hard-fought game, and we could have folded up a couple of different times and didn’t. We found a way to win. I thought Bryson was terrific - a big-time performance. I thought Amani played really well, and I thought our role players made some big plays.”

Mount St. Joseph will play host Bishop Walsh Saturday at 4:45 pm.

George Mason-bound 2022 guard Devin Dinkins had 30 points in the loss for Gonzaga, while Northeastern committ Jared Turner had 14 and Thomas Batties 12.

DEMATHA 71, ST. FRANCES 58

2022 wing Tyrell Ward had 21 points and 2022 guard Rodney Rice 19 to help DeMatha pull away from St. Frances and advance to Saturday’s ACIT championship game.

It will be the third consecutive trip for the Stags, who are the two-time defending ACIT champions.

“It’ll mean everything," Stags 2023 guard Jaden Winston said of potentially closing the year on a winning note. "We didn't get to win WCAC. Winning for our seniors and coming together for one goal would be big for us.”

2023 guards Jahnathan Lamothe and Carlton Carrington each had 16 points for St. Frances, which got 11 from 2022 forward Cortez Johnson and 10 from 2022 forward Taion Robinson.

PAUL VI 69, LONG ISLAND LUTHERAN 66

Long Island Lutheran jumped out to an early lead for the second consecutive game, but this time their opponent - this time, PVI - rallied, ultimately pulling out a 69-66 victory in a thrilling close to Day 2.

Paul VI advances to face DeMatha in Saturday's title game - a rematch of the 2019 final.

“We’re excited to get a chance to participate, and finish out the year with a great Paul VI-DeMatha battle," Panthers coach Glenn Farello said. "We’ve had some great ones over the last few years, so hopefully we’ll be able to give that to everyone tomorrow.”

PVI 2023 guard DeShawn Harris-Smith had a game-high 21 points while 2022 guard Dug McDaniel added 19 and 2025 center Christian Gurdak 10.

2022 guard Jayden Pierre had 18 points to lead the Crusaders, while 2023 guard Jayden Reid had 17 and 2022 forwards Jaxon Koroll and Finley Sheridan each had 10.
