DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD - The 9th Annual DMVelite 80 returned September 10 at Athletic Republic Capitol Region, allowing a collection of the area’s top players to come together for a day of drills and competition in front of media and college coaches.

Here’s a look at some standouts from the talented junior class:
TY BEVINS, GWYNN PARK (MD) GUARD
Bevins’ versatility was on full display at Athletic Republic, as he contributed in multiple categories throughout the day. He’s made steady improvement in his ball handling and his jumper, and is in line for a monster junior campaign with a loaded Gwynn Park squad.
MACHI CHESTER, GWYNN PARK (MD) GUARD
Chester comes to Gwynn Park from Bishop O’Connell (VA), and gives the Yellow Jackets another versatile weapon on the perimeter.
MARTIN SOMERVILLE, BISHOP MCNAMARA (MD) GUARD
Somerville had a very strong day, scoring 11 points per game and showcasing his perimeter shooting touch by going 5-of-11 from 3-point range.
ALMANI AW, ST. FRANCES (MD) CENTER
The SFA big man has good size (6-foot-10) and nice instincts in the paint. He showed good touch around the basket and was very strong on the boards, ending the day with 8.5 points and 7 rebounds per game.
TEYVIEN BARBOUR, OSBOURN (VA) GUARD
Barbour has emerged as one of the area’s top 2024 guards after a strong sophomore campaign and travel season with DC Premier. He averaged 9 points per game in his DMVelite 80 debut, showing a nice shooting touch.
RAIJON DISPENSA, NATIONAL CHRISTIAN (MD) FORWARD
A 6-foot-9 transfer from Shipley (PA), Dispensa posted 7.3 points per game and showcased a nice assortment of moves and good footwork on the offensive end. He was also very strong on the boards, tying for the lead in rebounds per game at 6.3.
DEZMOND HOPKINS, PATRIOT (VA)
Hopkins averaged 7.3 points per game and had his sharpshooting ability on display, tying for the event lead in made 3-pointers with six. He also averaged 4 rebounds per game.
KRIS JOHNSON, GRACE BRETHREN (MD) GUARD
A transfer from St. Vincent Pallotti, (Md.), Johnson is primed for a standout season for a reloaded Grace Brethren squad. He has a good feel and contributes on both ends of the floor.
DAOUDA TRAORE, GRACE BRETHREN (MD) WING
Another Grace Brethren newcomer, the former Paint Branch (Md.) standout has good size on the wing and game-changing athleticism. He had it all on display at Athletic Republic, and should prove to be a welcome addition for GB this coming season.
DAVID AMOAKOHENE, SPRINGDALE PREP (MD) FORWARD
The 6-foot-7 Amoakohene has a great frame and a high motor, and hit the boards hard, posting 4.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the day.
SINCERE BARFIELD, PARKVILLE (MD) GUARD
The 5-foot-10 Barfield stuffed the stat sheet with 4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He showed good speed and shiftiness in the open court.
TYRIN BIZZELLE, CALVERT HALL (MD) GUARD
Bizzelle impressed with his vision and playmaking ability all day long, finishing with 3 assists per game.
