2023 Maryland Private School State Tourney Info

The 12-team event kicks off on February 28.

WHAT IS IT?

The 2023 Maryland Private School State Basketball Tournament was created to provide private school players in Maryland a state championship to compete for like their DC and Virginia counterparts.

Previous tournaments have taken place, but this new iteration is spearheaded by four individuals familiar with the DMV Hoops scene:

Colby Giacubeno (Prep Hoops)
Marcus Helton (DMVelite)
Marc Stern (Capitol Hoops)
Houston Wilson (CP3 Camp /Jordan Brand, formerly of Prep Hoops)

WHEN IS IT?

February 28-March 6

WHERE IS IT?

The first round will be at higher seeds on February 28, with the quarterfinals at Bullis School on March 1 and the semifinals and championship at Takoma Academy on March 5 and 6.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The 12-team field consists of 8 automatic bids and 4 at-large bids. The top 4 teams receive first-round byes.

WHERE ARE THE BALTIMORE CATHOLIC LEAGUE TEAMS?

For this inaugural year, BCL teams can’t participate due to a conflict with their conference tournament. The MDPSSBT Committee has reached out to the BCL about participating next year.

HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS?

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Info on purchasing them will be available soon.

WILL IT BE STREAMED?

Tourney partner The PAC West Group will offer a livestream. Details to follow.
