Shabach Christian and Mt. Zion Prep to face off.

TAKOMA PARK, MD - The finals for the 2023 Maryland Private School State Basketball Tournament are set.

No. 9 seed Mt. Zion Prep will look to keep their postseason success going as they face No. 2 Shabach Christian on Monday, March 6 at Takoma Academy.

Here’s a look at how the two teams go here:

MOUNT ZION PREP

The Warriors have thrived in the postseason, knocking off a series of higher-seeded teams along the way. They took down top-seeded Highland en route to the Metro Private School Conference (MPSC) championship, and entered the Maryland Private School Tournament as the No. 9 seed in the 12-team field.

In the past week, the Warriors have knocked off No. 8 Good Counsel 65-57, No. 1 Bullis - at Bullis - 61-54 and No. 5 Bishop McNamara 51-50 to reach the final.

Fallou Koite, Francis Folefac, Logan Suber, Hassan Dorman, Lynn King and Bobby Montgomery have been among the standouts for the Warriors this postseason.

SHABACH CHRISTIAN

The Eagles played as an independent and undertook a tough national schedule that helped them enter the Maryland Private School Tourney as the No. 2 seed.

Shabach has lived up to its seeding, cruising past No. 7 Landon, 90-60, and No. 6 St. Andrew’s, 66-49, to advance to the title game. Kevon Corley, Ibrahim Robinson and Farrell Crowell have helped lead the way in the Eagles’ previous two playoff victories.
