Mount St. Joseph Forward Amani Hansberry leads our collection of Maryland's best.

We at DMVelite are pleased to announce the 2022-23 DMVelite All-Maryland Team. This group is perennially the hardest to choose, as it represents our largest single area of coverage - the entire state of Maryland - and encompasses a wide range of extremely talented players.

Our staff would like to thank the players, coaches and fans who made the 2022-23 season – our 13th year of high school coverage – a success, and we look forward to many more. In addition to this All-MD team (which features only players from schools located in Maryland), we've rolled out our All-DC Team and will be releasing our All-Northern Virginia team soon.

And now, here’s our selection of the state’s best of the best – the 2023 DMVelite All-Maryland Team:

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: AMANI HANSBERRY, MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 2023 FORWARD

The Illinois commit was once again a stat-stuffing matchup nightmare, posting 15.3 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists per game while leading the Gaels to the Baltimore Catholic League regular season and tournament titles.

“My senior year started off a little bit slow,” Hansberry recalled before the recent Capital Classic All-Star Game. “We fought some adversity as we do every year, but I’d like to say it was a great senior year. For me personally, I improved the wing aspect of my game and other aspects of my game defensively and the way I move. So I feel like my 2022-23 year was definitely successful, especially winning all the championships and beating Montverde [at the Iolani Classic in December]. So it was definitely stamped, for sure.”

In his second year at MSJ - he began his high school career at St. John’s (DC) - the 6-foot-8 Hansberry fully embraced his role as a team leader and the offensive focal point.

“I’ve kind of had to deal with it my whole life,” he said. “A lot of defenses liked to send two [defenders] or send three at me, especially when I was in the post a lot, so I was kind of, like, just taking that pressure and really trying to understand how to use it to my strengths and drive and play team basketball. So I think it helped me greatly.”

COACH OF THE YEAR: QUINTON DULIC, MOUNT ZION PREP

In just the second year of the high school program’s existence - Mt. Zion already has an established postgraduate team - Dulic led the Warriors to the Metro Private School Championship, followed by a Cinderella run from the No. 9 seed to capture the Maryland Private Schools Tournament.

CARLTON CARRINGTON, ST. FRANCES 2023 GUARD

The Pittsburgh commit was one of the area’s most lethal and consistent scoring threats, averaging 26.4 points to go with 7 rebounds and 6 assists per game.

AIDAN HARRIS, ST. MARY’S-ANNAPOLIS 2023 FORWARD

After St. Mary’s lost seven seniors from last year’s MIAA B Conference championship team, Harris stepped up to fill the void. The 6-foot-6 St. Francis (Pa.) commit averaged 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists per game to lead the Saints to another MIAA B crown, finishing with 31 points in the title game victory.

CAMERIN HORTON, CITY 2023 FORWARD

The 6-foot-5 Horton was man on a mission all year, leading the Knights to a 28-0 season that included the Baltimore City and Maryland Class 3A State championships. He averaged 20.9 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Knights.

JAHNATHAN LAMOTHE, ST. FRANCES 2023 GUARD

The Maryland commit capped his four-year varsity career with perhaps the best all-around campaign in the area, averaging a triple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists per game. In a February win over John Carroll, he set a school record with 57 points while hitting an astounding 16 3-pointers.

TYLER PERKINS, LANDON 2023 GUARD

The University of Pennsylvania-bound Perkins averaged 25 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while leading the Bears to a runner-up finish in the Interstate Athletic Conference title game.

JEREMIAH QUIGLEY, BISHOP MCNAMARA 2023 GUARD

The Iona commit averaged 20.5 points per game for the Mustangs, leading them to a runner-up finish at the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament.

CAM WARD, LARGO 2025 GUARD

After exploding onto the varsity scene as a freshman, Ward was even better in Year 2, averaging 25.4 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game to lead the Lions to a 2A state runner-up finish.

ANTWAN WILSON, WICOMICO 2023 WING

Wilson returned to Wicomico after a year at Cross Christian (DE) and promptly reintroduced himself to opposing defenses. The 6-foot-4 Wilson averaged 26.7 points per game and set a school single-season scoring record with 722 points while leading Wicomico to a 25-2 record and Class 2A semifinal appearance. In a state quarterfinal win against Thomas Stone, he had 19 of his 43 points in the fourth quarter to rally Wicomico.

JADEN WINSTON, DEMATHA 2023 GUARD

In a season of change - DeMatha graduated its top three scorers and brought in a new coach - Winston was a steadying force. The Manhattan commit averaged 14.6 points, 4.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game, and solidified his reputation as one of the area’s top perimeter defenders while coming up with timely defensive plays all season. Winston was named MVP of the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament while leading the Stags to their fourth straight ACIT title.
