We are pleased to announce our DMVelite All-State selections for Northern Virginia.

Our staff would like to thank the players, coaches and fans who made this past season – our 14th year of high school coverage – a success, and we look forward to many more. This team encompasses our Northern Virginia coverage area, which includes players at public and private high schools located in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties.

And now, here’s our selection of the state’s best of the best – the 2024
DMVelite All-Northern Virginia Team:

2024 DMVELITE ALL-NOVA AWARDS

DMVelite Northern Va Player of The Year: Darren Harris, Paul VI 2024 Guard

Most Improved: Andy Ramirez, Hayfield 2024 Guard
Under The Radar: Jamal Miles, South County 2024 Wing
Unsung Hero: Sol Vita, South Lakes 2025 Guard

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: DARREN HARRIS, PAUL VI 2024 GUARD

The Duke-bound 6-foot-6 senior led the Panthers to a 33-2 record and both the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title and the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I championship, finishing with averages of 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.

COACH OF THE YEAR: MIKE DESMOND, SOUTH LAKES

Desmond led the Seahawks to the first state title in school history, capping a 26-2 campaign with a dominant Class 6 championship game victory over Patriot.

FIRST TEAM

NATE AMENT, HIGHLAND SCHOOL 2025 WING

The versatile 6-foot-9 Ament averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 3.8 blocks per game while leading the Hawks to the Metro Private School Conference title and earning MPSC Player of The Year honors.

TEY BARBOUR, PATRIOT 2024 GUARD

The Harvard commit shined in his lone season with the Pioneers, averaging 20 points and 6 rebounds per game for the Class 6 state runner-ups.

BEN HAMMOND, PAUL VI 2024 GUARD

Handed the keys to the area’s most impressive collection of talent, the Virginia Tech commit delivered, dishing out 7 assists per game as the Panthers captured the WCAC regular-season and tournament crowns, as well as the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I title.

NIJEL HOWARD, FAIRFAX CHRISTIAN 2024 WING

Howard averaged a team-high 12.2 points per game to lead the Cardinals to the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III crown and pick up VISAA D-III Player of the Year honors. The 6-foot-6 Howard will continue his career at Division II Barton (NC). 

RILEY JACOBS, ST. STEPHEN’S & ST. AGNES 2025 FORWARD

The 6-foot-7 Jacobs was a double-double machine for the Saints, averaging 13.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while picking up All-Interstate Athletic Conference honors.

KYE ROBINSON, ALEXANDRIA CITY 2024 GUARD

Robinson averaged 21.8 points,  6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game while guiding the Titans to a state tourney appearance. He’ll play his college ball at Division III Mary Washington (Va.)

JORDAN SCOTT, SOUTH LAKES 2025 GUARD

The ultra-talented and versatile Scott emerged as a bonafide star this season, averaging 20 points, 7.5 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and 1.8 steals per game to lead the Seahawks to the first state championship in school history.

MATTHEW SHELTON, EVERGREEN CHRISTIAN 2024 WING

Shelton helped lead the Eagles to the best season in their school’s short history while posting 21.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists,1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.

BRYSON TUCKER, BISHOP O’CONNELL 2024 GUARD

The Indiana commit made a definite impact in his lone season in the WCAC, averaging 20 points and 5 rebounds per game while earning First Team All-League honors.

CARLTON YOUNG, WAKEFIELD 2024 FORWARD

Young arrived at Wakefield from Florida last summer and made himself right at home while leading them to a 21-5 record. The 6-foot-4 Young averaged 18.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game while earning Liberty District Player of the Year and First-Team All-State honors. He recently committed to Division II Augusta (Ga.)
