As we continue to wrap up the 2015-16 high school basketball season on DMVelite, we are proud to announce our All-District selections for Maryland. This group is perennially the hardest to choose, as it represents our largest single area of coverage and encompasses a wide range of extremely talented players.

Our staff would like to thank the players, coaches and fans who made this past season – our sixth year of high school coverage – a success, and we look forward to many more. In addition to this All-MD team (which features only players from schools located in Maryland), we've rolled out All-DC and will be releasing an All-Northern Virginia team, culminating in our overall All-DMVelite squad early next week.

And now, here’s our selection of Maryland’s best of the best – the 2016 DMVelite All-MD Team:

PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  MARKELLE FULTZ, DEMATHA 2016 GUARD
Our repeat Maryland Player of the Year, the McDonald’s All-American turned in a final season befitting his high-profile status, averaging a team-highs in points (17.6) and assists (7.5) per game to lead the Stags to the Maryland Private School and Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament titles. The versatile University of Washington commit showed he could run the point effectively, as his 278 assists established a new school record.

Christian Matthews, National Christian 2016 Guard
The 6-foot-6 Georgia Tech commit came into the season on a mission to win a title after falling short as a junior, and accomplished it by guiding the Eagles to their first Capital Beltway League championship. The Capital Beltway Player of the Year averaged 21.5 points per game, and gave opposing defenses fits on a nightly basis with his slashing and outside shooting ability.

Darryl Morsell, Mount St. Joseph 2017 Guard
Morsell's versatility was a key factor in MSJ's success all season. The multi-faceted 6-foot-3 guard averaged 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game to lead the Gaels to MIAA A and Baltimore Catholic League title game appearances.

Albert Odero, St. John’s Catholic Prep 2016 Guard

He was outstanding in the title win against Annapolis Area Christian, posting 40 points and 10 rebounds and hitting the game-winning 3-pointer.
