HAGERSTOWN, MD - The 2015 DMVelite West High School Showcase helped kick off the New Year in front of a good crowd at St. Maria Goretti High.

The event included six games featuring teams from throughout the DMV, with college coaches and media in attendance. Here's a look at Saturday's action:

RELATED: VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

ARCHBISHOP CURLEYJV 54, GORETTI JV 44

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Kevin Brooks, Archbishop Curley (17 points)

Archbishop Curley (Md.) survived a late scare from host Goretti (Md.) to down the JV Gaels, 54-44. After trailing by nearly 20 points in the second half, Goretti cut that down to seven with 2:30 remaining in the fourth quarter. After that, Curley slammed the door on any kind of Goretti comeback. Kevin Brooks led the way for Curley with 17 points.

FLINT HILL (VA) 67, ARCHBISHOP CURLEY (MD) 66 | BOX SCORE
PLAYER OF THE GAME
Ben Stern, Flint Hill F 2016, (21 points on 7/12 FG in 16 minutes off the bench, three rebounds & three blocks)

A bench that was fueled by 31 points - with Ben Stern accounting for 21 - proved to be enough for Flint Hill to outlast Archbishop Curley in one of the more exciting contests of the day. Huskies freshman guard Ethan Jones swiped a steal on the other end of the court and willed his way to the free throw line in transition with 4.4 seconds left. Unfazed by the circumstance, Jones knocked down both free throws to seal the 67-66 Flint Hill victory. Justin Taylor added 12 points, six rebounds and four assists for Flint Hill. Archbishop Curley was led by David Wilson, who posted 21 points and seven rebounds.

STONE BRIDGE (VA) 54, NATIONAL COLLEGIATE (DC) 49 | BOX SCORE

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Colin Jachimowski, Stone Bridge G 2016, (23 points [7/8 FT], 13 rebounds [7 offensive boards] and two assists)

Despite falling into a sizeable 14-3 hole in the opening minutes, Stone Bridge shrugged that off and didn’t panic to overcome National Collegiate. An 11-0 run to conclude the first quarter sparked new life, and a 60-foot bank shot at the third quarter buzzer by freshman guard Evan Buckley was just enough despite the team shooting a pedestrian 30% from the floor. Colin Jachimowski charged Stone Bridge, registering 23 points and pulling down 13 rebounds (seven offensive). National Collegiate Prep’s Michael Barnett posted a double-double of his own, with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

CHRIST CHAPEL (VA) 58, BROADFORDING (MD) 38 | BOX SCORE

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Daniel Merritt, Chris Chapel C 2016, (17 points on 4/5 3-pt FG in 21 minutes off the bench and two assists)

After a tightly-contested first frame, Christ Chapel exploded for a 21-point second quarter while holding Broadfording to seven points in the process. Broadfording then would make somewhat of an attempt at a comeback, but Christ Chapel slammed the door on that possibility with a fourth quarter run, ultimately cruising to a 58-38 victory. Daniel Merritt’s 17 points in 21 minutes off the bench led Christ Chapel, while point guard Morris Williams ran the show effectively with seven points and six assists. DeAundre Gonzales paced Broadfording with 17 points and three rebounds.

CAPITOL CHRISTIAN (VA) 72, ST. JOHN PAUL THE GREAT (VA) 46 | BOX SCORE

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Jordan Hill, Capitol Christian G 2016 (14 points on 4/5 FG in nine minutes off the bench, six assists and four rebounds)
Only taking an eight point lead into the half, Capitol Christian used a third quarter binge in which they rattled off 21 points to down St. John Paul the Great, 72-46. In just nine minutes of work off the bench, senior guard Jordan Hill (PICTURED) stuffed the stat sheet efficiently; posting 14 points (4/5 FG & 5/7 from the stripe) while adding six assists and four rebounds. Brandon Edmond paced St. John Paul the Great with eight points, nine rebounds and four assists.

POLY (MD) 68, ST. MARIA GORETTI (MD) 58 | BOX SCORE

PLAYER OF THE GAME
De’Vondre Perry, Poly 2017 G, (17 points on 6/8 FG and nine rebounds)

In one of the more highly anticipated games of the day, Poly overwhelmed host Goretti with athleticism and a vast repertoire of offensive goods to take home a 68-58 win. De’Vondre Perry (PICTURED) showcased his talents by scoring an efficient 17 points (6/8 FG) and hauling down nine rebounds. Perry was also the only player all day to make a 3-pointer, and threw down a thunderous transition dunk. Poly led by nearly 20 in the third quarter, but Goretti chipped away at the deficit to bring it to as close as seven points with six minutes to go in the game. That’s when Poly guard Christian Chong-Qui scored 10 points in the final five minutes to seal the Engineer victory. Chong-Qui finished with 16 points (8-11 FT) and three assists for Poly. Charleston Southern-bound 2016 forward Jordan Jones registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Demetrius Mims surged for 16 points. Senior point guard Donte Doleman led Goretti with 23 points (14/17 FT) and five rebounds.
