As the 2015-16 high school season gets underway, a host of familiar names will be suiting up for different teams.

Additionally, one of the major storylines of the offseason was players who are leaving the area, heading off to major out-of-state prep programs (see a full list of area departures at the bottom of this article).

As DMVelite kicks off its preseason coverage, here’s a look at a few of the upperclassman transfers who should make an impact this year:

RELATED: Full 2015-16 DMV Transfer List

Myles Douglas transferred from Friends (Md.) to Paul VI (Va.) this summer.
Myles Douglas, 2017 Wing — Friends (Md.) to Paul VI (Va.)
Douglas (PICTURED) is the biggest name on this year’s list, and his addition is a noteworthy one for a PVI team already stocked with Division I talent. After being the offensive focal point at Friends, it will be interesting to see how Douglas fits in alongside VJ King (Louisville), Corey Manigault (Pittsburgh), Aaron Thompson and Brandon Slater as the Panthers look to make a title run in the stacked WCAC.

Jarvis Doles, 2016 Forward — Mount St. Joseph (Md.) to Hammond (Md.)
Doles’ arrival alongside two other big transfers - Brandon Willis (Atholton) and Terrell Lamar (Long Reach) - have taken Hammond from an afterthought after winning just three games a year ago to a Howard County favorite. That says a lot, since HoCo produced a pair of state champions last season in Centennial and Oakland Mills. All eyes will be on the Golden Bears and the 6-8 Doles, who should put up big numbers in his final campaign.

DJ Mitchell, 2017 Guard — DeMatha (Md.) to St. Vincent Pallotti (Md.)
The DMVelite Fall League MVP has immediately stepped into a go-to role for the Panthers. He began to burst on to the area recruiting landscape after a standout summer with DC Thunder, and should see his stock continue to rise as Pallotti steps up to the MIAA A Conference.

Alani Moore, 2016 Point Guard — Montrose Christian (Md.) to Friendship Collegiate (D.C.)
The Temple University signee followed former Montrose coach Bryan Bartley to Friendship, and with fellow ex-Mustangs Keon Queen and Leandre Thomas makes the Knights a major force in the city. The former DMVelite 80 MVP had a strong summer with DC Premier, and should solidify his spot as one of the area’s top guards.

Koran Moore, 2018 Center — Patterson (Md.) to St. Frances (Md.)
After playing a big role in Patterson’s run to the 2A state championship game last year, the 6-8 Moore headed to St. Frances, where he will reclassify from 2017 to 2018. He will team with 6-7 2017 Tairik Johnson to give the Panthers one of the area’s top young frontcourts; the duo has complemented each other well in early action.

Justin Route, 2016 Guard — Coolidge (DC) to CH Flowers (Md.)
One of the best players in DC makes the move to Prince George's County after City officials deemed him ineligible for his final season. If he's cleared, he'll provide an immediate boost for the Jaguars in the competitive PG 4A league.

Torrey Brittingham, 2016 Guard — Wicomico (Md.) to Stephen Decatur (Md.)
The reigning DMVelite Eastern Shore Player of the Year, Brittingham leaves Wicomico after one year and a state semifinal appearance, returning to Decatur — where he spent his first two years. Brittingham is recovering from a neck injury, which will leave him sidelined until January. Look for the senior to make a major late-season impact.

Darryl Smith, 2016 Guard — Suitland (Md.) to Capitol Christian (Md.)
One of the most talented public school players in Prince George’s County the past few years, Smith gives the Warriors the proven scorer they had been lacking. He should form a nice pairing with AAU teammate and Riverdale Baptist transfer Jasper Sterling as the re-stocked Warriors look to make a run in the Capital Beltway conference.

Khalil Richard, 2016 Guard — Shiloh (Ga.) to New Town (Md.)
The Siena signee headed south from St. Frances (Md.) to Shiloh this offseason, but recently returned to the area. He will now spend his senior year at New Town, where he will team with Devin Smith and Matthew Johnson to give the Titans one of the area’s most formidable backcourt trios. New Town is moving up to 2A after winning the 1A state championship last season.

Saiquan Jamison, 2016 Forward — Northwestern-PG (Md.) to Wise (Md.)
Jamison joins an already stacked Wise squad that is considered among the favorites for the 4A title. He’s a big and physical low post/face-up threat, and his presence should clear space for Wise’s guards while also allowing 2017 forward Darron Barnes to continue his transition to the wing.

Jahlil Jenkins, 2017 Point Guard — Jefferson (W.Va.) to Virginia Academy (Va.) [PICTURED]
One of the area’s most underappreciated lead guards comes to the Capital Beltway Athletic Association, where he’ll be tested on a nightly basis. Jenkins — whose recruitment began to take off this summer with Uncommon Bulls — should more than prove to be up be up for the challenge.

Jake Kuhn, 2017 Guard — Whitman (Md.) to St. Maria Goretti (Md.)
Kuhn missed all of last season after suffering a knee injury playing football, but looked good in a short stint with The District this summer. He’s continued that momentum, earning D-I scholarship offers from Air Force, Mount St. Mary’s and St. Francis (Pa.). Kuhn reclassified to the 2017 class, and should be a major contributor for the Gaels right out of the gate.

Amanze Njoku-Ibe, 2016 Forward/Center — Pallotti (Md.) to Riverdale Baptist (Md.)
The 6-8 Njoku-Ibe is coming off a strong summer with 6th Man Warriors, and will give the Crusaders an explosive and athletic post presence. He’s already gotten off to a strong start, leading Riverdale to a runner-up finish in the Adidas Tip-Off Classic in San Antonio, Texas.

Cameron Robinson, 2016 Point Guard — Evangel Christian (Va.) to Woodbridge (Va.)
The underrated Robinson made the move to public school for his final year, where he’ll team with fellow senior transfer Tayler Brletic (Christ Chapel) to give the Vikings one of NoVa’s top backcourts.

Derquan Washington, 2018 Guard — Dunbar (D.C.) to HD Woodson (D.C.)
After a rookie campaign in which he earned DMVelite DC Freshman of the Year honors, Washington joins the defending DCIAA champion Warriors. He’s a proven scorer who will provide a nice complement to star senior forward Antwan Walker and rising star Kiyon Boyd, a junior wing.

Nate Watson, 2017 Forward - Capitol Christian (Md.) to Bishop O’Connell (Va.)
Watson’s arrival provides an immediate boost to a once-depleted O’Connell frontcourt that lost Oumar Barry and Siyao Sun to graduation and Lewis Djonkam to an in-season transfer to West Springfield. Watson should make an immediate impact inside for the Knights.

Jamal Wright, 2016 Guard — Bullis (Md.) to RIverdale Baptist (Md.)
After a breakout season for the IAC runner-ups, the 5-11 Wright elected to spend his final year at Riverdale, where he will be given the keys to a team with an intriguing collection of talent. He earned a D-I offer from High Point this summer with The District, and should add a few more to his list with a big senior season.
