2015 Governor's Challenge: Session 1 Awards

Session 1 of the 2015 Governor’s Challenge concluded on Monday evening after three action-packed days in the largest high school basketball tournament on the East Coast.
 
After consulting with college coaches, high school coaches and media on hand, our DMVelite team came to final selections for All-Session honors. With no shortage of strong standout performances, we put together three teams and a group of players receiving honorable mention on the boys side (more than 30 teams playing), and awarded MOP and 1st Team honors on the girls side (featuring eight teams in two brackets).

SESSION 1 - MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER
Devin Garrett, 2016 G/F Indian Creek: 18 points, 11.3 rebounds (Team Record: 3-0)
Garrett continued his stellar senior season with three strong games for Indian Creek, averaging a double-double and doing a bit of everything on both ends. Playing in Sunday’s Private School Showcase along with their two bracket games, the Eagles strung together wins over Harford Tech, Kings Christian and Queen Anne’s County. SESSION 1 - GIRLS MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER
Samantha Pollich, 2019 F, Sanford (Del.): 14 points, 12.5 rebounds (Team Record: 2-0)
A freshman forward, Pollich — and the rest of her Sanford team — dominated in two easy wins, coasting to the girls Bracket 2 championship in their first Governor’s Challenge appearance. Pollich eclipsed the double-double mark in big wins over Parkside and St. Joseph By The Sea (N.Y.), and is part of an immensely talented young core for Sanford.
