Player of the Game
Hope Evans- Class of 2021 (Benjamin Tasker)
Hope showed the poise of a high school varsity basketball player in the game versus Samuel Ogle. She understands how to play the game the right way. She has really good court awareness. Hope is a true point guard. She set her teammates for shots. She made the right passes at the right time. She would attack gaps so that she could draw her teammate defender in order to get her teammate the ball. She is only in the 7th grade, but demands that leadership role on her team. Her performance landed her Player of the Game honors.
Players 2 Watch
Maciyah Washington- Class of 2020 (Benjamin Tasker)
Maciyah is a problem on the defensive end. She causes so many turnovers. She seems like point guard’s nightmare. She harassed the opposing team best player, in addition to getting in the passing lanes causing havoc. Her quick hands and speed led to layups on the other end of the floor. Once she becomes a little more comfortable with handling the ball and shooting, she is going to blossom.
Lauren Strachan- Class of 2020 (Samuel Ogle)
Lauren has pretty good court awareness. She would hit teammates cutting to the basket and one would think, “How did she see her cutting to the basket”? Her no-look passes “Wowed” the crowd. She had no problems showing she could get to the basket or pull up in transition for the 3 point shot. She is someone we will continue to watch grow.
