O'Connell's Xavier Johnson leads the All-NoVa Team.

With the 2017-18 high school basketball season now firmly in the rearview mirror, we are proud to announce our All-Area selections for Northern Virginia.

Our staff would like to thank the players, coaches and fans who made this past season – our eighth year of high school coverage – a success, and we look forward to many more. This team encompasses our Northern Virginia coverage area, which includes players at public and private high schools located in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties.

And now, here’s our selection of Northern Virginia’s best of the best – the 2018 DMVelite All-Northern Virginia Team:

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: XAVIER JOHNSON, BISHOP O’CONNELL 2018 GUARD
The 6-foot-3 Johnson was a nearly unguardable weapon for the Knights, averaging 18 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds per game while being named the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Player of the Year. The University of Pittsburgh commit guided the Knights to runner-up finishes in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament and the Alhambra Catholic Invitational.

COACH OF THE YEAR: MIKE ROBINSON, SOUTH COUNTY
In his first year on the job in 2016-17 Robinson led the Stallions to a 9-15 record. This year they tripled that victory total, going 27-3 en route to their first Class 6 State Championship in school history.
