Washington DC and Southern Maryland remain undefeated in PYBL play through two weeks of play, setting up for an intriguing meeting next week.
The Washington DC Bulldogs made easy work of the Charles County Warriors in their second game of the summer PYBL season.
The Bulldogs used a balanced attack to defeat the Warriors, 82-33, behind 15 points from Jeremiah Quigley, 10 points from Shamar McIntosh and 8 points from Jariel Henderson.
Washington DC used a running attack on offense and fullcourt pressure on defense to create such a huge deficit for Charles. The Warriors opened the first quarter strong, trailing only 17-10 after one.
The Bulldogs held them to 13 points in the second half while scoring 50 points as a team. Nine of 10 players scored for Washington DC in the game.
The Warriors were led by Kyan Bowman, who finished with 11 points.
The defending champion Southern Maryland Cardinals also got their second win of the summer over the Prince George's Stallions in Game 2 of the night, 60-50.
The Cardinals got a big game from point guard Malik Mack, who went on a personal scoring run during the first half. Mack finished the game with 16 points, 12 in the first half.
Tyler Mason had eight points as well in the first half as Southern Maryland led 40-20 at halftime. Prince George's came storming back in the second half, outscoring the Cardinals 15-8 in the third quarter.
Southern Maryland held on in the final quarter, though. Isaiah Arnold finished with 12 points and Asaa Gregg finished with six points.
Kalen Cobb led all scorers for Prince George's with 19 points. Habib Kamara was right behind him with 12 points.
It sets up an intriguing meeting next Wednesday between Southern Maryland and Washington D.C.. They could be the potential Game of the Week as another week of power rankings looms as well.
