The Arlington Ducks Elite squad kept the undefeated season intact with a big win over the Fairfax Blue Devils, 81-65. The Ducks, boasting this week's No. 1 ranking in the PYBL Power Rankings, knocked off the Blue Devils in easy fashion, although both teams were neck-and-neck after one quarter.
Arlington led 21-17 after one frame but pulled away as the game progressed with unselfish play. They put up 21 assists as a team and 49.3 percent from the field.
DeShawn Harris-Smith finished with a team-high 26 points along with 11 rebounds and four assists. Nygel Anderson and Mason So both finished with 10 points apiece.
For Fairfax, Jacoi Hutchinson finished with 28 points and nine rebounds. Isaiah Coleman also had 17 points and six rebounds.
Arlington is now 2-0 while Fairfax is now 1-1 on the season, so far.
In the second game of the night, the Alexandria Knights defeated the Loudoun County Eagles for their first win in the young season.
Alexandria won 78-51 behind 22 points and 18 rebounds from Macon Dean, a player with All-First Team honors written all over him. Justin Boggs had 18 points and five rebounds. Delamortay Jones also finished with 15 points, six assists and five rebounds.
Despite trailing by just nine points at the half, Loudoun found themselves on the wrong of a scoring run in the third quarter. They were outscored 26-17 by Alexandria in the third frame, making their efforts futile in the end.
Kristopher Johnson and Domenic Duncan led the way for the Eagles with 11 points apiece for Loudoun.
Alexandria is now 1-1 this summer while Loudoun is 0-2 and still searching for their first victory.
