The Arlington Ducks and Frederick Gators won their third game of the PYBL season on Tuesday night to kick off Week 3.
In the first game of the evening, the Frederick Gators and Anne Arundel Wildcats needed an extra session of overtime to decide the winner. It was a back-and-forth affair although Frederick led for most of the way throughout the game.
The Gators prevailed in the end, 58-52, outscoring the Wildcats 14-8 in overtime. Three different players for Frederick put up double-doubles in the game.
Ricardo Glass led the way with 15 points, 13 rebounds and four steals. Terrell Webster finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. Marvin Brimage Jr. finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.
Frederick overcame 22 points and 17 rebounds from Amani Hansberry to secure the victory. They also held Jaden Johnson to 10 points on 3-of-13 shooting. The Gators did their best to pressure the Wildcats and the plan largely worked. They forced 21 turnovers in the game while committing 10 as a team themselves.
In the final game of the night, the Arlington Ducks remain undefeated in PYBL play after securing their third victory of the season over the Montgomery Yellow Jackets, 63-48.
The Ducks saw a balanced scoring attack in their victory with Jaimie Kaiser leading the way with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field.
Arlington trailed 13-12 after one quarter, but they turned up the heat after that. In the second quarter, they outscored the Yellow Jackets 20-8.
Courtland Simmons was right behind Kaiser with 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals. DeShawn Harris-Smith had a quiet game by his own standards but he still put up 11 points and five rebounds.
The Yellow Jackets scoring attack was led by Rieco Hellams' 14 points, five rebounds and four steals. Montgomery was without one of their offensive weapons as Quint Booker didn't play.
