By Marcus Helton, 11/30/18, 11:00AM EST

A look at some of the top offseason moves.

With the 2018-19 season now officially upon us, a host of players will be looking to make impacts in new uniforms.

The transfer scene was as busy as ever this offseason. One name that kept coming up in the offseason was Bishop Walsh (Md.), which has rebuilt on the fly under former St. James (Md.) coach Dan Prete. Prete brought a nice collection of talent with him from St. James in 2019 guards Callum Baker, Jordan Miller and Anthony Torelli, 2020 forward Wilson Ramabu and 2021 guard Jaden Miller, to go with 2017 DMVelite 80 MVP and 2019 Virginia Tech commit Yavuz Gultekin (John Carroll), 2019 wing Oliver Nkamhoua (Richard Montgomery), 2020 wing Bendji Pierre (Springfield Commonwealth [MA]), and Marshall (Va.) forwards Joe Okoye (2019) and David Okoye (2021), among others.

The Spartans were far from the only team to benefit from transfers, though.  Here’s a look at some of the top players in new places:

Marcus Dockery, 2020 Guard - Theodore Roosevelt (DC) to Bishop O’Connell (VA)
A University of Maryland commit, Dockery returns to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference after a breakout sophomore season at Roosevelt. Dockery - who spent his freshman year at Bishop Ireton (Va.) - saw his recruitment blow up over the summer, receiving scholarship offers from the Georgetown, Cincinnati and Seton Hall - among others – before pledging to the Terrapins. He’ll team with Mount St. Mary’s commit Ayan Teel, 2018 DMVelite 80 MVP Brayon Freeman (2021 guard) and 2021 guard Wes Peterson to give the Knights one of the WCAC's most dynamic backcourts.

Makhel and Makhi Mitchell, 2019 Forwards – Montverde (FL) to Wilson (DC)
After a year away at Montverde (FL), the Mitchell twins return to the area to finish out their high school careers before heading to Maryland. Along with incoming 2021 forward Zaakir Williamson they’ll give Wilson one of the most imposing front lines in the area.

Marvin Price, 2019 Guard – Huntington Prep (WV) to Patterson (Md.)
Price led Patterson to a state title in 2017 and returns after a one-year stint at Huntington Prep (WV). He immediately puts the Clippers back in the state title picture, joining Joppatowne transfer Jalen Willis, Millersville (Pa.) commit Gerard Mungo and TJ Thomas to give Patterson a superb group of guards.

Cameron Byers, 2020 Forward - John Carroll (Md.) to Dulaney (Md.)
Byers gives the Lions another formidable piece to complement Che EvansRyan Conway and Ike Cornish, and is a key reason why Dulaney is expected to be in the state title mix this season.

Michael Sumner, Jr., 2020 Guard – St. Mary’s Ryken (Md.) to Oxon Hill (Md.)
Sumner starred as a freshman at Oxon Hill before leaving for Ryken, and is back to join a talented lineup under coach Lewis Howard. He and 2020 guard Ronald Polite will give defenders issues all season.

Kyle Rose, 2019 Guard – Rock Creek Christian (Md.) to Eleanor Roosevelt (Md.)
Rose should immediately emerge as one of the top two-way guards in the state, and is primed for a breakout senior campaign playing alongside District Basketball Club teammate Cameron Brown (William & Mary).

Zion Russell, 2021 Guard – Riverdale Baptist (Md.) to Georgetown Prep (Md.)
Russell impressed as a freshman at Riverdale, and will now be given the chance to help fill void left by the graduation of star guard Jared Bynum (St. Joseph's).

Jamel Melvin, 2020 Forward – DeMatha (Md.) to Potomac School (Va.)
The 6-foot-9 Melvin appears ready to breakout after reclassifying from 2019 to 2020 with the Panthers. He'll be counted on to help replace the production of graduated  wing Devon Flowers (James Madison) another WCAC to MAC transfer who starred for the Panthers after coming over from Gonzaga as a  junior.

Darius Miles, 2020 Wing – Theodore Roosevelt (DC) to St. Charles (Md.)
The Spartans made a deep playoff run last year and gained a tremendous piece in Miles, a versatile 6-6 wing who holds several Division I scholarship offers. Miles and 2018 guard Anthony Bowman will be a matchup nightmare for opposing back courts.

Angelo Brizzi, 2021 Guard – Fauquier (Va.) to Highland School (Va.)
Dominick Carrington, 2020 Guard – Mount Carmel (Md.) to City (Md.)
Deonta Dunlap, 2019 Guard – Catonsville (Md.) to Milford Mill (Md.)

Ronnell Giles, 2019 Guard – St. Vincent Pallotti (Md.) to CH Flowers (Md.)
James Gross, 2021 Guard – Riverdale Baptist (Md.) to Rock Creek Christian (Md.)
Jordan Hairston, 2019 Guard – Westfield (Va.) to Flint Hill (Va.)
