Oxon Hill (Md.) 2020 guard Ronald Polite.
Oxon Hill (Md.) 2020 guard Ronald Polite excelled in his first varsity season a year ago, and is eager to build upon that success this winter.
After scoring a game-high 21 points in the Clippers’ season opening 97-63 home win against Meade, the 6-foot-1, 160-pound Polite took some time to discuss his goals and recruitment:
WHAT DO YOU FEEL THIS TEAM’S POTENTIAL IS?
“We can be special if we keep working and playing hard defensively. We can be pretty good.”
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER THE STRENGTHS OF YOUR GAME?
“Creating for myself, creating for others and getting to the rim. Those are my strengths.”
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE SEASON?
“My personal goals are to get in the weight room and get stronger. My team goal is to just win.”
HOW IS YOUR RECRUITMENT LOOKING?
“George Mason, James Madison and Howard - they’ve been reaching out.”
WHAT ARE YOUR LOOKING FOR IN A SCHOOL?
“I don’t really now. I don’t really want to go to a big city school, but I don’t know. I'd prefer the East Coast.”
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO OFF THE COURT?
“2K, video games. I like to watch basketball, but pretty much video games.”
WHAT”S YOUR FAVORITE BASKETBALL TEAM?
“I’ve got a favorite player - Lonzo Ball. He plays so unselfish and tries to get everybody involved, and he can still do what he does.”
WHAT PARTS OF HIS GAME DO YOU TRY TO PULL FROM?
‘Unselfishness and creating for others. And trying to be an all-around player - defensively, offensively, all that.”
DID YOU PLAY ANY OTHER SPORTS GROWING UP?
“I started off playing football. They made me play football first so I could get tough, but I’ve always been playing basketball after that.”
WHAT’S BEEN YOUR FAVORITE ON-COURT MEMORY?
“My first in-game dunk, it was at Wise Fall League this year. I basically got a steal, leaked out and - I originally missed the first one, but then I got another chance and went off two [feet] and dunked it.”
