Flint Hill (Va.) 2019 guard Jordan Hairston.

2019 point guard Jordan Hairston built a name for himself in two highly productive seasons at Westfield (Va.) before electing to transfer to Flint Hill (Va.) for his senior year.

The move has definitely worked out thus far for Hairston, who has emerged as a playmaking leader for a Flint Hill team that has been one of the area's strongest this winter.

Hairston recently took some time to discuss his transfer, his recruitment, strengths and more:

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT HOW THE SEASON IS GOING?

“We’re progressing, Every game, every practice, we’re getting better. We haven’t reached our full potential, but every game, we’re getting better. We get up a lot on most of the teams, but then we have a habit of letting teams come back, even though we finish out the game. We see how great we can be, so we just need to put the pieces of the puzzle together.”

HOW HAS YOUR TRANSITION TO FLINT HILL BEEN?

“I just had to know my role and learn everybody else’s role and how everybody liked to play and out everybody in the right position.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE?

“The level of competition is definitely better. At Westfield, they can only recruit people in their area, and at Flint Hill you can get people from all over the country. And most of the kids on the teams play on circuits, so it’s much better competition.”

HOW IS YOUR RECRUITMENT GOING?

“I’ve got Boston [University] and Lehigh offered me a couple of weeks ago. Delaware State and then I’ve got interest from, like, Richmond, George Mason and Oklahoma State.”

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR IN A SCHOOL?

“Just a school that gives me the best possibility to go to the next level, and lets me help their program and also help me benefit and progress.”

ARE YOU PLANNING TO COME OUT IN THE 2019 OR 2020 CLASS?

“Right now [prepping] that’s a possibility. Right now I’m still 2019, but I’m looking to go 2020 if everything doesn’t work out as planned.”

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER THE STRENGTHS OF YOUR GAME?

“I’m always on the attack, so it keeps the defense off-balance, ’cause they don’t know when I’m going to drive or when I’m going to pull up or when I’m going to get others involved. And my defense that leads to our offense.”

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST AREAS YOU WANT TO IMPROVE?

“Basically everything. I need to work on my strength, my jump shot, dribbling - just continue to improve in all aspects of my game.”

DID YOU PLAY ANY OTHER SPORTS GROWING UP?

“I played football up until the 9th grade, then I decided to stick with basketball. I played receiver, DB, running back - a lot of things. More schools were talking to me in basketball so I felt like that’s the right path.”

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT THE GAME?

“It’s just fun. I mean, the ups and downs teach you a lot and it gets you prepared for life.”

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO OFF THE COURT?

“I basically like to hang out with my friends, you know? Go to the movies and chill. I like Kevin Hart and The Rock, they’ve got good movies. [I like] most of the famous movies that are out, and some Superhero movies sometimes.”

WHAT’S BEEN YOUR FAVORITE BASKETBALL MEMORY?

“When I was on Takeover and Assault; it was real competitive and the games were packed. It was just a different environment and it was fun playing with elite-level guys like Johnathan McGriff and going against people like Cole Anthony and Scotty Lewis and all them - it was just a great time. High school is good, too and it’s too, it’s just two different times.”
